Druids are one of my favorite classes in World of Warcraft because of how many different roles you can fill. You can heal, do melee damage, spell damage, and even tank. Every class niche is available to druids. When you are leveling your druid though, it is best to stick with one role if you want to level up faster. Here are some tips.

Talents

Since you have so many options as a druid, it can be tough to pick a talent spec for leveling. As you will mostly be doing quests by yourself to level, a damage oriented spec will be your best bet, so Feral and Balance are the obvious choices. Although Balance has very good DPS, Feral is able to sustain it for longer because it is not mana dependent. As such, I would suggest Feral for leveling. With a Feral build, you can also pick up a set of tank gear and tank instances in bear form. With that said, if you plan to group more than solo, you might want to go with a Balance spec, as mana dependency is not nearly as much of an issue in groups and you can also heal with a Balance spec.

Feral Gear

Feral druids will want to carry around 2 fairly different sets of gear, one for soloing in cat form and the other for tanking in groups with bear form. Cat form gear will focus more on agility, strength, attack power and critical strike rating, in that order. Agility, strength and attack power affect the amount of damage you do with each attack, and agility and critical strike rating increase your chance of getting a critical strike.

In bear form, you will want to focus on gear with tank-friendly stats. Stamina is king, but stats like defense, dodge rating, and agility allow for more avoidance and less damage taken overall, so they are definitely worth picking up as well. Another consideration that you will have to make for your bear set is armor rating. This will reduce all physical damage taken, so it is definitely a necessary stat. Try to get gear that has stamina and at least one of the other tank stats on it and you should be fine for most instances up until 80.

Balance Gear

As a balance druid, you will want to pick up what would commonly be considered mage gear. You are looking for things like spell power, critical strike rating, intelligence, and mana regeneration. Spell power is the number one stat on your shopping list, with critical strike rating not trailing that far behind in importance. Grab as much intelligence as possible without sacrificing your damage stats, as it determines the size of your mana pool and thus how long you can keep going. A little bit of mana regeneration on your gear helps with endurance sessions and running instances, so don't overlook it completely, but its not worth prioritizing either.

With the info in this article, you're now fully equipped to level your druid to 80. If you really want to fly through the levels, I would highly recommend checking out an in-game leveling guide by clicking through the link at the end of this article. I've done a review of what I consider to be the best druid leveling guide available, so if you're interested in getting to level 80 faster and having more fun on the way, check it out.
