Registry-cleaning programs are getting more and more popular these days, and for good reason. They're a crucial tool for repairing computers. As a computer repairman, I personally use a registry cleaner in four out of five house calls! There's a lot of different reasons for this, and I'll tell you the major ones here.

One of the most important reasons for using a registry cleaner is to help increase performance on your system as a whole. Many computers that are already experiencing errors will have unseen errors around startup and shutdown in addition to the other errors that they?re displaying; these startup and shutdown errors simply don?t always have accompanying error messages to warn you of their presence.

On many occasions it is due to the fact that the start-up program does not exist anymore or path set for that file has been incorrectly written in the registry. The moment I complete a registry repair scan and automatically resolve these issues they no longer appear.

In addition to all this, registry cleaners often do more than simply fix up small errors in the registry: they can also check for and fix missing or broken links. These broken links can dramatically slow boot time if they are on your desktop, and will certainly slow down loading time if you attempt to open that file or folder with the broken link. Although not all registry cleaners are guaranteed to have this tool, a majority of them will.

Start-up managers are another good tool. Since the interface for these things is very often primitive and clunky, the more advanced users that know how to get into these managers very often cause major issues without meaning to simply because of how awkward it is to use them. But the ones bundled with registry cleaners tend to be much better, and you can use them to fix the issues caused by their inadequate cousins. The more developed ones will even hide important information that you have no business modifying, like things critical to the function of the OS.

Most registry cleaners also have a way of sorting out and tossing the accumulated ?junk? on your computer, such as temporary internet files, cookies, websites, and cached photos and videos. These files, though unnecessary, can take up quite a bit of space on your hard drive and can cause performance issues as a result. Removing these files will help increase your computer?s speed overall. Although Windows has its own pre-installed version of ?junk removal? software, it?s not as powerful as what you?ll find in a registry cleaner.

Although many people will warn you against their use, registry cleaners can be a good option to handle several common computer performance issues, especially for more inexperienced users.
