An important part of Internet security is to clear Internet history after you are through using your computer. This is especially true if you are one of the millions who like to pay their bills online and would like to keep your identity from being stolen. Identity theft is a big problem around the world, and taking the time to be responsible is the only way to ensure you are not a victim.

If you use a personal computer which has the Windows operating system installed on it, then you already have Internet Explorer as a default browser. This makes it one of the most widely used browser's available. In this article we will learn how to securely delete all of the files which can compromise your security.

The first thing you need to do is open up Internet Explorer. If you will look at the top of the browser you will see a text link labeled as Tools. You will want to click this link which will open a drop-down menu. Scroll down to the bottom of this menu and select Internet Options.

This should cause a box to pop up which has a row of tabs across it along the top. One of these tabs is the General tab. If it is not already selected, please select it now. You should then see a button located in the middle portion named Delete. Click this button to go to the next step.

Now is when you have to decide which parts of your browsing history you would like to get rid of for good. If you would like to keep your Internet favorites you will have to make the choice mail and click the option box beside for Internet Favorites. Not doing so will result in losing them.

Next, you will want to select the box next to Temporary Internet Files so you can delete all of the web pages you have visited which have been saved to the hard drive. Your Cookies can also give away where you have visited, so go ahead and select that option also. Of course selecting the History option is needed, so go ahead and put a checkmark there.

If you want to preserve your passwords, do not click the Passwords box. All that is left to do now is press the final Delete button. This will clear Internet history on Internet Explorer and keep your browsing habits private.
