Used notebook computers are difficult to choose between, even more so than looking for new models. There are so many things that can happen to a computer in the period of time someone owns it, especially notebooks. A high quality and pristine condition used model can be almost impossible to find unless you know some very reliable places to get them. However, if you are willing to put some effort into it, the task is not all that difficult at all.

Finding the right used notebook computers is much different from, and more difficult than, finding new notebook computers. Owners are unconsciously tough on their computers, and there is no way to tell how an individual one has been treated by its previous owner. A high quality and pristine condition used model can be almost impossible to find unless you know some very reliable places to get them. But it is possible with a little effort and some time.

If you look around online, you can find some websites that will refurbish and sell used notebook computers, but you should probably look for reviews of those sites online in order to ensure that you will be paying for a well fixed up computer. Some websites claim they are refurbished when they are in fact not, while some others don't even test the units much before typing their specs onto the site and putting it up for sale. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Also avoid any online shops that do not have an easy to navigate website, as that can be a red flag as well.

There are not a lot of stores that are not online who offer used computers, but they do exist. Shops that will buy the computers off of customers and fix them back up can be hard to find in some areas. If you do see a shop like that near where you live, go check them out and see what their opinions are on refurbished computers and to see whether or not they have any for sale. However, if you're like most people, then there is not a store like that in your area. You can also check your newspaper's classified ads for computers for sale, as well as sites that are like classifieds themselves.

EBay usually has a good selection of used notebook computers, but you should be even more cautious with eBay sellers as sometimes you can get scammed or ripped off through that site. It's amazing some of the things you can find on eBay, but it can also be hard to tell if a seller is legitimate or not. If you do go through eBay, e-mail the people selling the notebooks you think you might like and see if they can give you any information on them. If you do this, you can find out about the computer and see if the seller is legitimate. It is always better safe than sorry, and purchasing a bad computer is something you would regret.

It is admittedly difficult to find quality used notebook computers, especially ones that are worth the cost. People often don't let go of them until they are too old or damaged to do much with. If you use all of the resources as your disposal and take the time to really search, you should be able to find a quality unit at a good price.
