The lowermost resolution of an LCD TV is surely 1366x768, high definition by each standard. Plasma conversely is 1024x768, not large def but close enough that it is difficult to know the distinction. In image quality, the differences among a 42 inch LCD TV and plasma is not far enough to call. It shall rather much descend to another considerations, such as cost, dimensions and demand. After you have weighed the pros and cons of each type of television, you will have to decide on manufacturer. That many times comes down to personal choice or brand loyalty.
