I can't think of one reason why you nor anyone else can't or shouldn't have a nice set of six pack abs. All it takes is focus and dedication to practice beneficial nutrition, a steady exercise routine, and a healthy lifestyle so you too can achieve your goal of having a flat stomach.
I can't think of one reason why you nor anyone else can't or shouldn't have a nice set of six pack abs. All it takes is focus and dedication to practice beneficial nutrition, a steady exercise routine, and a healthy lifestyle so you too can achieve your goal of having a flat stomach. However, if you do just a few things the wrong way, you'll be wasting your time and start to feel like you're working backward, never making any progress. Some of those ineffective techniques you can avoid when flattening your stomach are sit-ups and other routines that focus directly on your abdominal muscles. WHAT?? Yes, you read that right. Sit-ups along with various forms of ab routines the focus directly on your stomach muscles are quite INEFFECTIVE for revealing your six pack abs! Here's why: 1. Ab exercises like sit-ups, crunches, and the like do not push your body to create a metabolic response for burning off excess belly fat. You have decent abs right now but they're unfortunately hidden under layers of stomach fat. What you must do to get your abs to show is eliminate the fat off your stomach. But let me tell you, there's no such thing as "spot reducing" by doing sit-ups to get a flat stomach. 2. Incorrect posture while doing sit-ups and other ab exercises leaves the back vulnerable to injury. Most people who haphazardly train either do ab exercises with an arched back (during floor routines) or a flat back (when hanging). The correct posture that will protect your spine is a rounded back. This way, you reach and strengthen the deepest core muscles that support your back. Therefore, attempting sit-ups with improper posture makes them highly ineffective. 3. Sit-ups only tone and strengthen the ab muscles that are hidden under belly fat. They do not create enough energy to jump start the fat loss needed to uncover those ab muscles. So you ask, "What am I supposed to do to get my six pack abs?" By doing full body exercises: Squats Lunges Sprints Mountain Climbers Deadlifts Snatches There are various techniques to make each exercise above unique so your body won't be able to adapt as quickly. Performing the exercises with different weights, intervals, angles, and so on will also allow for strength progression. During full body exercise routines, you use more muscle groups than you do when only doing sit-ups. They push your body further and create a higher metabolic response (burn more fat) than just sit-ups alone. They increase the release of fat-burning hormones that will help uncover your hidden six pack abs. Sit-ups are good for toning your abdominal muscles but will not cause your body to burn the fat hiding them. As you now can see, doing hundreds of sit-ups, crunches, and similar ab routines in hopes of getting your own set of six pack abs is a big waste of time.
