Budget car rentals are a traveler's savior from being stranded in one place and from expensive taxi rides. But with today's competitive market, I won't be surprised that from trying to rent a car you end up renting a lawnmower instead. Many of these businesses really want to match the right person with the right car but others just want to take your money so you need to look out for yourself as you maneuver your way through this travel experience. Let's look at some tips you can use to get your way through this. 1. If you don't care exactly which agency you use, think about choosing a budget car rental place that lets you set your own price. Such places just want to negotiate the best possible deal and may also give you upgrades and unlimited mileage offers, just to get you to go with their company. You'll stay in budget and they'll seal the deal. 2. Try and find some fly, hotel and airline packages where you'll pay a single fee and get a discount on the car. It's not recommended that you go through the airlines for such packages because you'll actually pay a bit more for what looks like a package deal. 3.Make use of internet sites to get your budget rental car. You get to do it from the convenience of home and the deals are often really great. You can select from many different companies and find the one that works for you. The best bargains can be found off of the internet so that you can easily get upgrades and unlimited mileage deals on these special sites. 4. Ask for discounts that can be applicable to you, remember even when you've scored the best deal, there is still that one last ditch of a possibility that one of your credit cards support the company and provide discounts or that your frequent flyer program or military service can put that budget in budget car rental, its a long shot but it's worth a try. 5. Many of the budget car agencies don't spend a lot on maintenance so you'll need to check for dents and scratches yourself during the auto pick up. That way you'll not likely get charged for dents that you never did at all. The same is true for windshield wipers, air conditioning and other features a car has. Check them all out because you could get charged if they don't work when you return the car, even if they hadn't worked prior to that. Think about the brakes, the radio and any accessories the car has so that you know they work when you get them. 6. When thinking of insurance, make sure you don't already have coverage for rental cars on your regular insurance. If you do have coverage, you don't need to pay for extra coverage through the budget rental agency. They will have you sign a waiver to make sure you waive your right to have rental insurance through the rental company. If you're not sure, get the insurance through the budget agency as it isn't that expensive. 7. Another money saving tip is to pick up your car early in the morning, make it so that the firm is just opening, this is because at this time most of the budget car rentals haven't been returned yet, and you may get an upgrade for a lower price.
